Nail 911 + How Wedding Pros Save You

Ok guys, I'm going to share something that might paint a bit of an ugly pic- at least I think it's ugly... but bear with me!
A few months ago, my nails were literally falling off.
Not exactly something you expect to say as an adult — but it happened.
For almost a year I had been getting acrylics done by a nail technician who never once mentioned that something might be wrong underneath them. When one of my nails finally started lifting and I asked if we should stop & figure out what was going on, she insisted I get them done one more time. I was shocked, & decline (obviously!).
I left feeling uneasy & knowing something wasn't right.
I mentioned to my esthetician my experience, and she referred me to a new nail technician who runs a small independent studio nearby. After a couple of appointments & my new technician doing some deep diving, we concluded that my poor nail condition was likely a result of continuous over-filing by my previous nail salon (making my nails weak), mixed with either an untreated fungal infection from unsanitary tools or an allergy to the acrylic nails. Something had been quietly getting worse underneath the acrylic over a long period of time. It wasn't the diagnoses that alarmed me- it was that and my previous nail person never said a word.
So we cut my nails down and, for months, I just focused on letting them heal. (I usually take a break from nail treatments and THIS is why- to check in with my nail health!)
Eventually they grew out healthy again and I was able to start getting gel manicures. Everything was great… until recently when she noticed a few early warning signs.
At my last appointment she carefully said, “I think it might be a good idea to take a break again.”
And what stood out to me most was that she was worried I’d be disappointed.
But she told me anyway.
Because her priority wasn’t just how my nails looked when I walked out the door — it was protecting the long-term health of my nails.
I actually left feeling grateful.
And later it hit me… this is exactly what good professionals do.
As a wedding planner, I see SO many couples asking:
“Is hiring a planner really worth it?”
“Can’t I just do it myself?”
The truth is, a huge part of the value of hiring an experienced professional is the problems you never experience in the first place.
Just like I had no idea what was happening underneath my acrylic nails, couples often don’t realize the number of things that can quietly go wrong during the planning process — vendor red flags, contract issues, timeline mistakes, logistical oversights, or decisions that look fine in the moment but create stress later.
Much of what planners do is preventative.
We know the questions to ask before a problem happens.
We see warning signs early.
We guide decisions that protect your experience, your investment, and your peace of mind.
And sometimes that means giving advice that isn’t always what someone hoped to hear.
But the best professionals care more about doing what’s right than simply saying yes.
Your wedding deserves the same kind of care. And I LOVE the opportunity to redirect what may not fit in a couple's budget or an idea that may not be a good idea, to something that is a more sound choice & is a satisfactory alternative.
Your Wedding Pro looks beneath the surface, paying attention to the details, and making sure everything stays healthy long before the big day arrives.
Because when the right people are guiding the process, the experience feels effortless.
And that’s the whole point.
There are incredible wedding pros available that can fit your budget and priorities. DIY bride? Totally fine! But consider letting your creativity run free while securing help to manage the day-of timeline, bartending (are you in the loop for the alcohol laws in your area? Fines can be hefty & negatively impact your vendor team and venue:\) or other elements of your Wedding Day that offload the stress or risks of not knowing what you should know.
DM here or on my IG for a quick list of things you can keep an eye out for when looking for vendors and creating your timeline that will help you STRESS LESS!
Cheers!
